Zombie World Read online

  Mia fell asleep in the front seat. It was going on 6 AM and I woke her up to a her know that we were just about there at our daughters.

  Mia asked me why I let her fall asleep and why I didn't wake her when we entered North Carolina?

  I told her that one of us need to be well rested and that is why I did not wake her up. I told her that when we found Sabrina and that we knew she was safe that I would lay down and get some sleep.

  Mia said that when we found Sabrina that she would feel a little better and that she would let me get some rest before we headed to Georgia to find our son Bryan. I told Mia that I would not need a lot of rest just a few hours after we find Sabrina that we would had to Georgia to find Brian and after we found them we would head to Florida and find Xander our youngest son.

  It wasn't long we pulled into Sabrina's driveway her car and her husband's truck was there. We got of the RV and started to head to the front door. We stopped at the porch steps, we both had this feeling that something was wrong. I could feel my heart pounding, sweat started to run down my head. Mia's heart was pounding her hands were shaking as we moved closer to the door,

  Mia said something wrong why hasn't she come out she had to hear us pull in. I told her maybe their sleeping.

  Mia responded sarcastically, yeah that's it there sleeping while the world goes to hell. I told her sorry that is what I'm hoping for.

  We were getting ready to open the door to the house, when we heard a noise coming from the basement doors from outside. Mia and I ran to the doors and yelled down, whose down there.

  To our surprise, it was Sabrina.

  Sabrina told us that she locked herself in the basement because her husband is turn into a zombie. She also told us that he was still in the house she cannot get out. I told Mia to go hear me the crowbar so I can so I can break the lock to get her out. Mia ran as fast as she could to get the crowbar and get back to me so we could get our daughter on the basement.

  It only took me a couple of minutes to get the doors open to get Sabrina out.

  Chapter 2

  We asked her if she was okay and she was bitten. Sabrina told us that she was not bitten and that she was very hungry, she said I have not eaten anything for three days. She was telling us that her husband Nick was bitten four days ago when he was out getting supplies so that we could survive here. He was telling us Nick wanted to get well we could and eventually had to New York to find you guys.

  I told Sabrina that we were heading to Georgia to look for her brother Bryan, and when we found him we were going to head to Florida to find Xander her younger brother before we headed off to Texas so that I could find my other two boys for my first marriage, William and Robert.

  We were in the RV. Mia was making lunch for us to eat, only because she knew Sabrina had not eaten for three days.

  Sabrina seen that we had the two dogs, she asked us where did you find the dogs, and what are their names.

  Mia told her that we found them on the side of the road and that their names were Angel and Roxie.

  I asked Sabrina there was anything that she made needed from the house. I told her that I would go in and take care of her husband Nick and get whatever she wanted. Sabrina told me that there was a lot of food and bottled water that Nick found that were in the house. She told me to get all of that and when I was done that there was a bag upstairs with all the clothing that she wanted to take.

  I told Mia that when I was done eating that I was going into the house to take care of Nick, and that Sabrina told me everything that she wanted me to get out of the house. Mia said that she would come and give me a hand to make sure that nothing bad happens.

  We're sitting at the table inside the RV and Sabrina was telling us how Nick was bit on the back of his neck, when they got back to the house Nick laid down in the couch and when he awoke he was a zombie. She had tears coming out of her eyes. She was telling us the story.

  Mia told her to stay in the RV and we were done that she was going in to help her father get everything and to take care of Nick. She also told her that once we were done that we would bury Nick outback in the yard.

  Sabrina told us that she was not going to stay in the RV that she was going to go with us to help. She said that there was something else the she wanted from the downstairs closet.

  I said in a stern voice, I want you to stay in the RV and whatever is in the closet. I would get it for you.

  Sabrina looked up at me with tears coming out of her eyes and said that she needs to do this, and that there is nothing mom and dad could say to make her stay in the RV. She added that it was her husband and that she needed to take care of it herself. I knew that there was nothing that me and her mother could ever say to her to get her to stay in the RV we knew that she was very strong that she had to do what needed to be done. Mia and I both knew that it was going to be hard on her that we would be there for her.

  We finished up eating and headed to the house, Sabrina reached out her hand and told me to give her my pistol. She could see the worried look on my face as I handed her my pistol and I told her that I would be right behind her and help her in any way I could.

  Sabrina Turner around look to her mother and told her that she would take care of Nick herself and to stay back.

  Mia told Sabrina that she would stand back let her do what she needed to do. She also said that if you need my help that I would be here for you.

  Sabrina looked at both of us and said mom and dad I love you both, but I got a do this myself.

  I opened the door for Sabrina to go and her mother and I right behind her. We were going to let her take care of her husband. Sabrina knew that she could not do it. We would be there to have her back.

  We slowly moved from the front of the house heading towards the kitchen where the basement door was. Nick had to be there by the door as he chased her into the basement. She said that he banged on the door every day. We walked around the corner of the kitchen and there stood Nick. Sabrina pulled up the pistol and pointed at Nick head. He had tears coming out of her I said I'm sorry and I love you, and its time for you my dear to go to a better place and rest. When she finished saying that she shot him in the head. She fell to the floor.

  Mia and I were there with her and told her that she was right now he's is in a better place.

  We picked her up off the floor. I told her that I was going into the backyard and a him a grave so that we could bury him.

  I opened up the back door to grab Nick by the back of the collar and pulled him outside to the backyard. I headed to the shed and as I was getting ready to open the shed door, I heard a noise like someone or something was moving around in there. I step back I went to grab my pistol when I realized it was not there. I forgot I left it on the counter in the house. I ran back into the house to grab my pistol. Mia and Sabrina were standing there wondering why I came back in so fast.

  I looked up at them as I was grabbing my pistol. I told him that there was something or someone in the shed.

  Mia pulled her pistol and told me that she was coming with me.

  Sabrina, yelled stop and said that the noise within the shed was her cat snowball. She says that her cat lives in there that she would go outside to the shed with us.

  We headed to the shed. When we got there. Sabrina got the whole the door and as she was opening a she was saying here Kitty Kitty Kitty. The cat jumped down on the bench and then jumped into Sabrina's arms.

  I told them that this is a go be a fun ride later with the two dogs and a cat in the in the RV were going to go nuts.

  I grabbed a shovel that was hanging on the wall and walked outside and begun I grabbed a shovel that was hanging on the wall and walked outside and begun foot-deep hole to put him in. I then walked into the house to have them come out and give me a hand putting him into the whole and bury him. We got them into the whole and covered him up Sabrina made across and hung his necklace on it and said that she loved him that she would be back when things got back to normal. Mia and Sab
rina had everything into the RV that it will we were finished we could take off.

  I told them we were going to stay for the night so we can get some rest before heading out at first light.

  The night and feel like they are getting shorter and the days are lasting longer. We are on the road heading to Georgia going left two hours ago and we are very stopped several times to move cars out of our way on the highway, and yelling zombies. I figure at this rate that it will be tomorrow night before we get out of North Carolina into South Carolina.

  I yelled back to Sabrina and Mia to come to the front of the RV. I told them that I had something to show them, that I thought was funny.

  Mia came up and asked what is funny?

  I pointed to a car that was sitting on the side of the road. There was a zombie stuck in the door window with his pants down to his ankles. His ass was just flapping in the breeze. They both started laughing so hard that they fall to the floor. Seeing this just made are day.

  I been driving now for over 25 hours without any sleep. We were just about to enter Georgia when I noticed the gas gauge was getting low. I told Mia that I was getting out to put gas into the RV.

  She told me that she was come out and watch my back. So that I can pay attention to what I was doing and not have to keep looking around. I was pouring gas into the RV. When I heard bang bang bang coming from the top of the RV. Apparently Sabrina climbed up there with her husband's rifle and started shooting zombies. As fast as she could. We did not see them at first until she started shooting them. We went over and looked at the dead zombies, Sabrina hit every one of them in the head. I asked her if she has been practicing with Nick's rifle at the shooting range? Sabrina told me that Nick has been teaching her how to shoot his rifle. She said this is what I needed to get out in the closet. It's the one thing that Nick and I love to do together and I wanted it to remember him by.

  I asked her how much more ammo she has for it?

  She told me that she had about 45 more rounds and then she was going to be out. I told her that we need to find a gun store so that we can get more ammo and weapons.

  I was not sure where were going to find a gun store in this small town there were about to come to. I do know that we need to find more fuel and is much food and ammo that we could get our hands on. Mia was looking at the map and said that there was a military base about 45 miles up the road. She told me that it was a Marine base. I knew that they had to have the weapons and ammo that we were going to need to make it. But I did not know if the base was empty. Full of zombies or survivors. We all knew that if we went there, that there could be a fight with zombies or with survivors that don't want any more people there. We knew that we have to check it out any way. I was trying to come up with a plan before we get there.

  I had this heave feeling in my gut that we might die you we were going to get hurt, but I knew that if I don't try it could be a big mistake. The closer we got the more nerves I got. I could see that Mia and Sabrina were nerves also, I could see it in their faces. I told the girl's that we need to stop before we get there and hide most of the food so that if they are not friendly we will have food we can get to. We were about three miles away. We found a car on the side of the road. We hide almost all of our food in the car. We then processed to the military base. We pulled up to gate my hands were shaking I had this not in my gut that I could not get rid of. I was just hoping that if there were any one in there that they would not kill us.

  I got of the RV and told the girls to stay. I told them that I was going to check the gate to see if it is open. Mia called my name and before she could say anything, I said I know be careful. She gave me this look, and if it had a bat in here hand it would have hit me upside to head.

  She said that she loved me and that if I get killed she was going to kill me. I smiled and said that if I get killed you can kill me I would be already dead. (I made this little laugh).

  Mia said fine I will bring you back and then kill you. She had a big smile on her face when she said it.

  I grabbed my pistol from side and headed to the gate.

  I walked around to the front of the RV and looked to see if the gate was unlocked. I tried to pull the gate open, but it would not open. I thought to myself ok is not going to open. I look to see if I could see anyone around, but the place looked deserted. I walked around to the back of the RV and climbed up on top so I could get a better view. I see a building off to the right and I could see what look like people sitting up agents the wall next to the door. I yelled dawn to my wife and asked her to bring the binoculars. It took Mia a few minutes to get them up to me. I looked to see what else I could see. It looks like the all the vehicles were gone. Mia came up and handed me the binoculars. I looked over to the building that looks like people were sitting at. I could not believe what I was seeing. There were two men in military clothing sitting there but they were dead. I could not tell if they were shot in the head but I could see that their gut and chest were ripped open.

  I told Mai what I was seeing and that it didn't look good. I slowly moved the binoculars to the left when I saw a military man walking and it was dragging his weapon only because it's strap on the weapon was stuck on his side arm. He turned and I could see his face, he was a zombie.

  Mia asked me what do you see?

  I told her what I was looking at.

  All the time we were up there Sabrina came up with her Ruger mini 14 rifle. She asked what’s taking you both so long? I have been down there waiting to know what we are going to be doing.

  I asked her if she thought she could make that shot to shoot that zombie in the head? Sabrina sat down and put the rifle up to her shoulder and rest the other end one her knee and she looked down though her scope. Her breathing became shallow she held her rifle as she let out her breath she shot. The zombie dropped the two that were sitting along the wall got up.

  I told her that there were two more and before I could finish saying it her rifle rang out two more shots.

  I looked though the binoculars and the two zombies were down. I said good shot and I am glad that Nick taught you how to shoot.

  She looked up at me and said I just wish he was here with us.

  I told her that he is, he is in our hearts and in are thoughts.

  I looked around to see if I could see any more, as I looked I could not see anything moving it all looked clear. We got down and went to the gate to see if we could get it opened.

  Sabrina saw why the gate would not open, there was a long metal pipe jammed into the rail to keep it closed. I jumped over the fence and moved it, Mia and Sabrina slide the gate open. We got back into the RV and drove in. I headed to the building that had the two solders by the door. As I pulled up to the building the two zombies that Sabrina shot, one of them was still moving around on the ground. I stopped and parked the RV, I got out and shot it right between the eyes,

  I said you’re not going get up now.

  We got out and headed to the door. There was writing above the door, it says (mess hall if you can eat this and survive you will live forever) I looked over to Mia and Sabrina and said that they wish. We laughed and before I opened the door I banged on it first and waited to see if there were any zombies in there. After about five minutes we heard nothing. I opened the door and there were solders sitting at the table with their brains blown out. The smell was horrible, I pulled my shirt up to my nose and walked in it a peers that they were bit and someone shot them before they turned.

  We walked back to the kitchen the food shelves were empty almost all of the dishes and pots and pans were also gone.

  We left that building and headed to the next one that was the armory. The door was locked, Mia handed me the crowbar so I could break it open. I opened the door and it was almost empty also there were a few weapons and ammo left inside. We grabbed what was left, then we headed to the next set of buildings. It seems the building left were the barracks. We walked up to the doors and they were chained and boarded up and said dead inside do
not open. We backed away and got into the RV and headed out we were not going to let out all the dead military zombies.

  We went back to the car were we hide all of our food, and out it back in the RV and headed to Georgia to Bryan house to get him. We were not that far from him I think that we would be there in about an hour or so. Mai and Sabrina were laying down to get some rest I told them that I would wake them when we got there. The two dog's Angle and Roxie jumped into the front seat next to me and were looking out the windows. I looked over to them and said are you two up here to make sure I don't get lost. I snicker a little and I kept on driving.

  It took us a little longer then I thought, but we got there and as I drove into the drive way there were a lot of dead body laying all over the place. I pulled up and parked right behind Bryan's truck I went back and woke up the girls to let them know the we were here. We got out of the RV and we heard Bryan yelling he was on top of the house.

  I yelled up to him and asked him what the hell is he doing up there?

  Bryan yelled back down and said that he would be right down.

  We walked up to the front door and headed in we met up with him just as he was coming down the stairs. We all went up to him and gave him hugs.

  Sabrina asked him where is Linda your wife?

  Bryan said that she is still up there on the roof watching for more zombies. I asked Bryan who shot all of those zombies out there?

  He said that Linda and him were taking turns killing them.

  I then asked him who shot the most?

  He replied Linda did she out shot me a few times.

  We laughed and headed to the dining room table and sat down. We told him what happen to Nick and what we found at the military base we were at. He told us that the military pulled out of there a few weeks ago when they knew that they were outnumbered. He told us that the military tried to close down the town but they could not, the zombies were biting their men and they were taking them back to the base. I told him that they killed a few of them, but they lock the other ones in the barracks. Linda came down and said that It was all clear out there. She sat down at the table, andasked so what’s the plan?
